GENERAL
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Preston Point Electrical holds Electrical Contractor licence EC 17094 issued by EnergySafety WA. We carry full public liability and professional indemnity insurance. Copies are available on request.
What areas do you service?
We provide residential and commercial electrical services across Scarborough to Mandurah. We also take on work in rural WA, so if you’re outside the metro area, give us a call on 0480 721 848 and we’ll sort it out.
How do I get a quote?
Get in touch via our contact form, email info@prestonpointelectrical.com.au, or call 0480 721 848. For most jobs we’ll need a quick description of the work, your address, and a few photos if it’s a fault or upgrade — then we can turn around a quote fast.
Do you provide certificates of compliance?
Yes. All notifiable electrical work is lodged with EnergySafety WA and you’ll receive a Certificate of Electrical Compliance (CEC) for every job that requires one. This protects you as the property owner.
FOR HOMEOWNERS
My power keeps tripping — what should I do?
Don’t ignore it. Repeated tripping usually points to an overloaded circuit, a faulty appliance, or a wiring issue — all of which can be a safety risk. Reset the breaker once and take note of what was running at the time. If it trips again, call us before using that circuit further.
Do I need a switchboard upgrade?
If your home still has a ceramic fuse board or older style circuit breakers without RCD protection, an upgrade is strongly recommended — and in some cases required under AS/NZS 3000. Signs you’re due for an upgrade include: fuses blowing frequently, no safety switches installed, you’re adding a pool, EV charger, or solar, or your home is 20+ years old and hasn’t been checked.
Can I install my own power points or light fittings?
In Western Australia, electrical work must be carried out by a licensed electrician. This includes installing power points, light fittings, ceiling fans, and any work involving fixed wiring. Unlicensed electrical work is illegal and can void your home insurance. We’re happy to help — no job is too small.
FOR PROPERTY MANAGERS
Can you work directly with tenants?
Yes. We regularly work alongside property managers to coordinate access, attendance, and sign-off with tenants directly — keeping things simple for your office. We’ll report back to you with job completion details and any recommendations for follow-up work.
Do you handle urgent or after-hours faults?
Yes. We understand that electrical faults at rental properties can’t always wait. Get in touch and we’ll assess urgency and get someone out as fast as possible. Call us directly on 0480 721 848 for anything time-sensitive.
Can I set up an ongoing maintenance account?
Absolutely. We work with property managers across Scarborough to Mandurah. If you manage multiple properties, get in touch to discuss a preferred trade arrangement — consistent response times, streamlined invoicing, and a reliable point of contact.
FOR BUSINESS OWNERS
Do you work on commercial premises?
Yes. We take on commercial electrical work including fitouts, maintenance, lighting upgrades, and switchboard work. We’re happy to discuss scope and schedule work around your business hours to minimise disruption.
Can you install EV chargers for a business fleet?
Yes. We supply and install EV charging solutions for commercial and residential applications including Tesla Wall Connectors and other brands. We’ll assess your existing switchboard capacity, advise on the right charger for your fleet, and handle the full installation to AS/NZS 3000 compliance.
Do you provide detailed invoices for accounting purposes?
Yes. All invoices include a clear breakdown of labour and materials, GST, and a written description of works carried out — suitable for your accountant or records. We’re registered for GST under ABN 50 688 952 089.
